In this tutorial I’m using Zebra LP 2824, but it should also work with other Zebra printers. What You should have:
- Zebra printer
- USB-COM (rs232) adapter
This method is universal and it should work on all Linux based systems. Connect USB-RS232 adapter to printer, and connect USB plug to Your computer. Now open terminal and type:
You should see sth like this:
As You can see, my device have been installed as ttyUSB0 port.
Next step is simply adding printer to Your system. Most universal way, to do this is through CUPS browser interface. Open Your browser and go to page http://localhost:631/ and click on Adding Printers and Classes
In next window click on Add Printer button.
Now choose USB Serial Port #1 and click on Continue button.
Baud Rate – 115200
Parity – None
Data Bits – 8
Flow Control – None
Click on Continue button
In next window, fill name and description of printer. Mark Share this printer if You want to use this printer in Your network. Click on Continue.
Next select Zebra and click Continue.
For my printer I m choosing Zebra EPL2 Label Printer (en) driver. For Your printer it could be another – if this driver not working, than select another one.
Now choose paper size and click on Set Default Options.
Now click on Maintenance and choose Print Test Page
That’s all. Printer should work now.
